Team Management Help

Overview

The Team Management feature allows project owners and project managers to manage team members for each project. You can invite users, assign roles, sponsor team subscriptions, and control access to project features.

Team Sponsorship System

The team sponsorship system allows you to invite users to your project and sponsor their team subscription. This enables seamless collaboration and ensures all team members have the necessary access.

How Team Sponsorship Works:

Enter Team Member Details: Provide the email address of the person you want to invite
Select Project: Choose which project they should join
Choose Role: Assign them as either Member or Project Manager
Select Plan: Choose the appropriate team plan for their role
Complete Sponsorship: The system handles the subscription and team addition

Role-Based Sponsorship Restrictions

Important: Your ability to sponsor team members depends on your role in the project.

Project Owners can sponsor users as either Project Manager (PM) or Member
Project Managers can only sponsor users as Member
Only project owners can sponsor Project Manager roles

Smart Plan Logic

The system intelligently handles team subscriptions to prevent unnecessary payments and provide appropriate access:

Existing Paid Users: If the user already has a qualifying plan, they are automatically added to the team without additional payment
Free Users: Free users receive a sponsored team subscription
Team Upgrades: Users with TeamMember plans who need PM access are offered TeamPM upgrades
Immediate Access: Users are added to the team immediately upon successful sponsorship

Team Plans

TeamMember Plan

Role: Member

Access: View-only access to assigned projects

Features: Basic team collaboration tools

TeamPM Plan

Role: Project Manager

Access: Full access to manage projects

Features: Complete project management capabilities

Note: Only available to project owners

Roles and Permissions

Role	Permissions
Owner	Full control over the project and team Can invite users as PM or Member Can promote/demote any team member (except themselves) Can remove any team member
Project Manager (PM)	Can invite users as Member Can promote/demote Members (but not Owners or other PMs) Can remove Members
Member	View-only access to project tracker Cannot invite, promote, demote, or remove users

Promoting and Demoting Team Members

Owners can promote Members to PM and demote PMs to Member.
PMs can promote Members to PM and demote PMs to Member, but only if their own role is higher than the target's.
No one can promote or demote themselves or users at the same or higher level.

Removing Team Members

Owners and PMs can remove team members with a lower role.
Members cannot remove anyone.

Simplified Checkout Process

The team sponsorship process has been streamlined for a better user experience:

Direct Plan Selection: Each team plan has its own "Subscribe Now" button
Real-Time Validation: Form validation happens instantly with clear feedback
Loading States: Visual indicators show when processing is happening
Immediate Results: Success messages or checkout redirects happen immediately
Error Handling: Clear error messages guide you through any issues

Accessing Team Management

Go to the Team Management section from the dashboard or main menu.
Click on "Sponsor Team Member" to start the sponsorship process.
Select a project from the dropdown to manage its team.
